Our wait list is full and we are not able to accept any new applications until March 2024. Please re apply for your client then and be aware that your agency and or
client will be required to participate financially with at least $500.
Due to a severe lack of funding and declining financial support, we ask our participating agencies, families, and individuals to pay at least $500 towards the furniture and furnishings we supply for them. It costs us $1200 on average to supply new furniture and furnishings, and have the items professionally delivered. We have found that having the clients pay at least $500 gains their participation in the process and give them a sense of ownership. We furnish homes. We cannot honor requests for just 1 piece of furniture or a single bed.
We have helped the homeless and helpless for over 30 years and have learned that unless they have "skin in the game" or rather, are participating financially, they either lose interest or do not participate to the extent we need them to in order to realize the benefits of self-sustainability. This is why we ask them to help to pay part of the cost we bear to provide them with new furniture and furnishings.
That being said here is how our process works;
We require the referring organizations to case manage the interaction with Furniture Bank. This allows us to not have to invest time to assess, prequalify, and get the client ready to receive the donation once they are added to our waitlist. We are overwhelmed daily with emails from the public asking for handouts. Unfortunately, we are not in that business and we only correspond with helping agencies and faith-based organizations to help their clients. This allows us to respond in a timely manner to those who are actively participating in a program of improvement to change their circumstances to be self-sustainable.
We only correspond and communicate via email. We WILL NOT engage in phone calls. We have learned that email communication allows us to keep records of our transactions and keeps it fair for all involved.
When it’s their turn on the Wait List, the case manager will receive an email giving 24 hours to respond telling us if they are still in need of furniture and furnishings and have the $500 to pay today. When we receive this confirmation, we send the payment link and instructions. When payment is received, we then proceed to order the needed furniture and furnishings.
